Clayton Cottage in Northumberland sits on the edge of the Cheviot Hills near the picturesque towns and villages of Milfield, Wooler, Etal and Ford. The cottage has the most fantastic unspoilt views. We welcome couples, friends or families with children of any age and have tried to ensure you will have everything you need for your self catering cottage holiday in picturesque Northumberland.

Situated in the tiny and quiet village of Howtel, near Milfield and Wooler, this beautifully restored Edwardian cottage is an ideal holiday base for resting or touring. There's beautiful countryside all around for local walking, cycling or fishing...and you are less than 30 minutes from many of Northumberland's beauty spots such as Bamburgh Castle with its wide golden beach and golf course or Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island.

Our holiday cottage sleeps up to five comfortably, with three upstairs bedrooms: One double, one twin and one small single room, with all bed linen is provided. The cottage has a good sized lounge and through dining area, with comfortable furniture, a real fire with all logs and coal included. The recently modernised bathroom is downstairs with a shower over the bath. We have a Smart TV for your Netflix, Prime video, You Tube, Radio etc. Also superfast Wifi, and a telephone with honesty box. 

The kitchen and small utility area is fully equipped and there's a rear porch for boots and coats etc. This leads to a small back lane with parking for one car and an enclosed private garden, with lawn, patio, furniture and BBQ.

    Clayton Cottage is on a quiet minor road, near Wooler in North Northumberland and also near to: Milfield, Branxton, Flodden Battlefield, Kelso, Etal, Ford, Cornhill on Tweed, Coldstream, Berwick upon Tweed, Northumberland Heritage Coast, Craster, Holy Island, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Chillingham, Duns, Northumberland National Park, the Borders and the Cheviot Hills - which give you the fabulous views from our remote and quiet self catering cottage. 

    Day trips to Edinburgh or Newcastle
    Edinburgh in Scotland is only an hour to the North (60 miles) and makes for a day trip by car or train from Berwick upon Tweed. Newcastle is only an hour to the South (60 miles). Other Northumbrian places to visit are Alnwick and Cragside in Rothbury, about 40 minutes away. Fly fishing or spinning is popular in local rivers, with the River Till and river Tweed local to the cottage. For other fishing there are also well stocked lakes about 15 minutes away called Chatton Trout Fishery

    Weekly rental is from £450 off peak, up to £650 peak times. No smoking please in our holiday cottage. Last minute, late bookings and short breaks considered. Saturday is the normal turnaround - Please call or email us for details.
